these are some attempts of creating the front cover title of Doo-Wop and hooligans. I tried to include the logo but that I found didn't work well. I also tried to change the first letter of the name so that it can become a iconic image that someone would remember.
The chosen typography I prefer is highlighted within a square. I combined my logo with the name to form letter mark. I thought this would be a good idea as it's simple and can also justify as another logo or icon which can be remembered.
Here is another experiment I attempted, I wanted to link the album name to the era of "Doo-wop".
Doo Wop was a type of music which was more or less rhythm and blues. This was formed in African American communities around 1940 which then hit the mainstream in the 50s and early 60s. This form of music was very common within those era. Many famous cities like New York and Chicago were full of Doo Wop music.
I searched what typography was like back then, I then came across dinner lights. Dinners were popular places people used to hang out and outside, neon lights flashed bright so that the dinner would get the peoples attention. So, I thought about incorporating this this idea into the my front album title. Although, there were some drawbacks to this, to make this typeface work, the background had to be darkened so that it would seem like a real neon sign. This caused a few problems with the colour of cover and the image that gave off. The background image was now darker which gave off a dark sad effect, this didn't fit in well with the music that Bruno Mars has.

initial Ideas
these are some design ideas for the front cover for the CD case. There are also some that i developed using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
first prototype
These images show the first prototype for the package, many ways of making it function was developed here, for example for security, magnetic tape was used to secure the case. Also the first attempt in using the newly adapted mechanism to hold the poster and booklet at the top.

Development of final package and net
Along side my research into packaging, I stumbled upon this type of packaging which I found to be very different to any other package. It was a very interesting concept that makes up the idea of how the CD is portrayed. For instance, when you open this package, the CD raises. This caught my attention and wanted to incorporate this concept into my final design.
Here's the first experiment I tried. I tried to incorporate the mechanism into the fold of the current design of the CD case.
Its was a successful attempt which worked well and it was able to hold items.
I then made the final net for the inside layer with the width of 37cm and the height of 25cm. This was the inside layer of the CD case.
Finally this is the outer layer for the CD package with the width of 31 by 21.

experiments
to the left is evidence of some experiments I took to perfect the case later on. On the right, the smaller case was the first of the case to be built. I found that it was too small to fit an entire CD into it. This then tore the slot, making it wider and that then ruined the folds on either sides. Also with the first experiment, I out that the CD didn't hold as the width of the case was too short which showed the CD. This didn't look professional or adequate.
My second attempt of making this type of CD case was more of a success than the previous one, although, the width and hight of the case had to be increased to fit the CD in and function properly. Then again, I stumbled into another problem, the inner layer was too short for the out layer sheet. This showed two different type of layers which wasn't the idea I had hoped for. What I like about this case is the free standing CD and the way it is presented when opened.
On the left is the second experiments. This one is another type of packaging. With this package, there's a box behind the CD grove that can hold items, such as booklets, poster etc. I wanted a CD that has space which can hold items. It's very useful.
The problem I had with think package was that CD wouldn't hold as there weren't any support. Although I did try to install another way to support the CD but this wasn't sufficient enough.
